An example of UX writing can be seen when you try to picture the first page you encounter when you attempt to get onto the majority of websites.

The first step will be to download the app if the website has one. Immediately after downloading, a page with text that reads "sign in by username or password” if you were an existing user or "sign up” if you are a new user appears on your screen. If you already have an account and type in the wrong username or password, a small writing stating "incorrect username/password" will display. However, if it is entered correctly, a writing stating "welcome back" will also appear. All of these little pieces of text, referred to as copy, were created by a UX writer.

Copywriting is the act of writing texts, also known as copy, that is used in advertising and marketing products and services to persuade potential customers to take action. Copywriting simply helps to convert users to customers.

  1. A Copywriter is responsible for writing content that depicts the identity of the brand that is being represented.

The goal of UX writing differs from that of Copywriting. While UX writing focuses on helping users navigate a website and improving their experiences, copywriting focuses on promoting goods and services.

Another difference between UX writing and Copywriting is that, while UX writing falls under the design category and collaborates with other website designers like UX and UI designers, Copywriting falls under the marketing category and collaborates with marketing teams like social media managers.

The two writers have different approaches to interact with users. UX writers use short conversations, or “copy,” to create an engagement between the product and the user and ensure that the user has a positive experience.

Copywriters, on the other hand, use stories based on the desires of their target audience, and connect with these audiences by arousing an emotion in them that may lead to a sale.

Another difference between UX writing and Copywriting is their interest. UX writers are more interested in creating a great experience for the users while Copywriters are more interested in generating sales for the owner.
