I have worked in hugely varied development environments, programming and implementation styles, and have become comfortable with a wide range of software packages and frameworks from client side technologies like Javascript and "AJAX" style programing, to server side programming in environments and systems like Perl/Catalyst, PHP and the many new CMSes and CRMs. I've created custom solutions for clients both from scratch to the clients specification, and based upon CMS/CRM systems they have already populated with user data, on sites that already have an established user base, both as plugins and as extensions to the core application. In this type of work I am most comfortable with PHP and Perl as a server side environment. One of the recent major developments in the field has been the explosion in Free/Open Source Software (F/OSS). I'm glad that I have been able to be a part of this revolution and exploit the potential of the "Write and Reuse" cycle of modern web development. My strengths are in "back end" development of sites, database design and integration with other products. Though I am more than capable of the front end design and implementation of user interfaces I enjoy the challenge of designing an effective and efficient foundation for a site to be built upon. During the development of each every serious project I learn or experiment with new techniques and improve on my own development patterns. I have a great deal of experience and a passion for integrating sites with 3rd party APIs and "Web Services" in order to build a more complete experience for the end user.
